A delegation of the Law Reform Commission of Liberia paid a brief visit to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, during which it made a presentation of 40 copies of the latest edition of the Liberian Law Report, Volume 42. Law Reports are books compiled and printed by authorized agencies of most countries, which contain the Supreme Court’s opinion in the number cases which the Court hears for the period which the book covers, usually a term of court or more. The Law Reports normally contain case laws precedents made in various cases which serves as the bases of how the Court will rule in future case with similar facts.

The Judicial Branch of the Liberian Government will on Friday, January 14, 2010 retire 43 of its employees consistent with the Civil Service Law and Practice of Liberia.
The 43 retirees include eight subordinate court judges from various circuits, and 35 civil servants who have either reached the retirement age of 60, served for 25 years and above, or those whose poor health state incapacitates them from being able to function properly in their respective assigned areas of work.

A high power delegation of the Supreme People’s Court of China is presently in the country as guest of the Supreme Court of Liberia. The Chinese Judiciary delegation is headed by Justice and Vice President Su Zelin of the Supreme People’s Court of China. The Chinese Delegation arrived in Liberia on Saturday, August 1, 2009 and is expected to be in Liberia until late evening of Wednesday, August 5, 2009. The six man Chinese delegation also includes Justice and President of Heilongjiang High People’s Court, Honourable Nan Ying; Justice and President of Shandong High People’s Court, Honorable Zhou Yuhua; Senior Judge and Chief Judge of Case filing Division, Honorable Liu Xuewen; Judge of the Supreme People’s Court, Honorable Wei Wenchao; and Interpreter of the Supreme People’s Court, Mr. Han Feng.

Monrovia, February 09, 2009 – The Judicial Branch of Liberia is to shortly propose the creation of four divisions of the Civil Law Court. The disclosure was made this morning by the Chief Justice, His Honor Johnnie N. Lewis while making remarks at the dedicatory ceremony of a two-court room building on the grounds on the Temple of Justice.
