Supreme Court Finally Closes for October Term (02/19/2018)

After nearly a year of work without break, the Supreme Court of Liberia has finally closed its October A.D. 2017 Term.The Court which has two terms, March and October, could not close for the March term due to the crucial role it had to play in expeditiously handling electoral cases as provided for by law, necessitated the extension of the March A.D. 2017 Term into the October A.D. 2017 Term.

The Judiciary Branch of Government denies, in the strongest terms, the front-page story carried in the Wednesday February 14 Edition (VOL. 18. NO. 31) of the Daily Observer Newspaper publication titled, “JUDGES DISAPPROVE OF WEAH’S 25% SALARY CUT PLAN”, in which the paper claims that “the recent pronouncement made by the President of Liberia, His Excellency George Manneh Weah, about the reduction of his salary and other benefits by 25 percent has not gone down well with the judges throughout the country”.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, His Honor Francis S. Korkpor, Sr. has directed that all Circuit Courts across Liberia open their quarterly sessions for the February, A.D. 2018 Term of Court, on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

UNMIL Donates Generously to Enhance Performance of Liberian Judiciary (02/05/18)

In an effort to effectively uphold the rule of law in Liberia, the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), has made a number of donations to the Judiciary.
The donations included equipment, stationery and furniture to enhance the performances at the James A. A. Pierre Judicial Institute, Todee Magisterial Court, Public Defenders Central Office, Case Processing Unit, and the Courts.

This bill of information was instituted on December 14, 2017, by Joseph Nyumah Boakai and James Emmanuel Nuquay, Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates at the October 10, 2017 Presidential and Representative Elections and the Unity Party (herein after known as “informanst”) against the National Elections Commission (hereinafter known as the “respondent”). In order to have full insight into the bill of information, we deem it necessary to present a brief synopsis of the background of the events leading to its filing.
