EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

A native of Sinoe County; born in King Williams Town (WeahKloh), Dugbe River Statutory District, Sinoe County, His Honor Joseph Nagbe obtained his Primary education from his home town and secondary education from the Sinoe High School. Associate Justice Nagbe then obtained a “B” Certificate in education from the Zorzor Rural Teacher training Institute (ZRTTI).

 In furtherance of his education,Justice Joseph N. Nagbe holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in History and Political Science from the William V. S. Tubman Teacher’s College, University of Liberia and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) Degree from the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law.

PUBLIC & PROFESSIONAL SERVICE

Admitted into the Supreme Court Bar as Counselor –At – Law in 1998; a Practicing Lawyer of twenty-three (23) years before the courts of Liberia.

A result-driven professional; Teacher, Administrator, Lawmaker (Senator) and Lawyer; providing over thirty-nine (39) years of effective professional services in teaching, lawyering and law-making in Liberia.

Demonstrates ability to independently lead and handle large scale, highly technical, legal, administrative matters, with significant and progressive experience yielding productive work results and fostering efficiency at work.

Team player with strong organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent in both spoken and written communication skills.

He has had the following job experience:

  • Social Studies Instructor, Sasstown Junior High School, Sasstown Territory now Grand Kru County.
  • Instructor and Vice Principal, Boatswain High School, Jamaica Road, Bushrod Island.
  • Instructor (World History and African Studies), Monrovia College and Industrial Training Institute, Monrovia, Liberia.
  • Instructor (History), College of West Africa, Monrovia.
  • Instructor (Business Law), CWA Junior College, Monrovia.
  • Establish the Legislative Research Bureau and appointed the Bureau’s first Director.
  • Industrial Relations Administrator, Monrovia Breweries Inc; principally managed management-employees’ relation and employees’ internal legal issues.
  • Representative to the National Transitional Legislative Assembly (NTLA) of the National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL) represented the people of Sinoe County.
  • Senator for Sinoe County (13) years in the Liberian Senate, and served as Chairman on the Senate Leadership Committee of Judiciary, Claims, Petition and Human Rights for 6 years.

PUBLIC & PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION

Justice Joseph N. Nagbe is a United Methodist; a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as Lay Leader for fifteen (15) years and now serves the Church in the Usherand Chairman of the Advance Committee.

He served as Chancellor (Legal Counsel) for the Liberia Annual Conference (LAC), the United Methodist Church for five (5) years 2001 – 2006, and presently serves the LAC as Chairman on the Committee of State and Church Relation.

Justice Nagbe is a widower with six children.
