CHIEF JUSTICE MAKES CHANGES.
In furtherance of his efforts to enhance efficiency and productivity in the Judiciary Branch of the Liberian Government, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, His Honor Francis S. Korkpor Sr., has made the following changes effecting the Bushrod Island and Brewerville magisterial courts in Montserrado County.
According to a Judiciary press statement, Chief Justice Korkpor has mandated the Stipendiary Magistrate of the Brewerville Magisterial Court, His Honor James B. Cooper, to holdover and conduct the affairs of the Bushrod Island Magisterial Court located in the Borough of New Kru Town, replacing His Honor Joseph R. Watson, who has been re-called for re-assignment.
The Chief Justice has also mandated the Associate Magistrate of the Monrovia City Magisterial Court, His Honor James F. Dudu to conduct the affairs and holdover at the Brewerville Magisterial Court.
According to Chief Justice Korkpor, it is the hope of the Supreme Court Bench, that the appointed magistrates will perform their new assignments with diligence and commitment to the rule of law, bearing in mind that their role is to serve and protect the innocent from the unjust.
Rotations of magistrates are done from time to time.
Speaking at the magisterial courts in the Borough of New Kru Town and Brewerville while inducting the newly assigned magistrates today, Chief Justice Korkpor said when judges still long in one location, they become settled and making friends. In some cases, this leads to leniency and compromises in the administration of justice. Hence, it is necessary to rotate magistrates from time to time, to invigorate the delivery of justice, the Chief Justice concluded.
These appointments took effect as of March 13, 2015.
