Judicial Institute’s Research Materials
DEVELOPMENT OF RESEARCH MATERIALS
During the period [2010 – present], several research materials were produced by the Institute through the support of development partners, to enhance the Institute’s training programs. These research materials include:
- Compilation of Relevant Liberian Laws, a research material that appears in 3 volumes;
- Child Justice Training Manual, a training manual containing relevant international legal instruments on Juvenile Justice and the domestic legal framework;
- Liberian Juvenile Law – Questions and Answers
- Bringing A Case To Court, a research material on Police Investigation and Criminal Procedure for Magistrates and Police;
- A training Manual on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence for Judicial Personnel;
- Bench Book for Magistrates on Criminal Procedure;
- Liberian Criminal Jurisprudence;
- Liberian Property Jurisprudence;
- Liberian Labor Jurisprudence;
- Basic Study Book on Constitutional Law and International Law;
- Basic Study Book on Liberian Criminal Law;
- Training and Practice Manuals for Liberian Public Defenders;
The production of these materials has been one of the major capacity-building undertakings of the Institute over the last 5 years. Given the high demand for these materials from the legal community, the Institute is in constant need for funding to continue reproduction of the materials. With the low budgetary support to the Institute, regular reproduction of these materials remains a challenge. The availability of research materials constitutes an essential aspect of capacity building, and is crucial to achieving judicial reform.
