Chief Justice Commissioned Judges for Nimba County

Liberia’s Supreme Court Chief Justice, Her Honor Sie-A-Nyene G. Yuoh, has officially commissioned and seated two Counsellors-At-Law, Cllr. Pape Suah and Cllr. Musa S. Sidibey to serve as Resident Judge and Judge of the Sexual Offenses Division of the 8th Judicial Circuit Court, Nimba County respectively.
The official commissioning and seating of their Honors Pape Suah and Musa S. Sidibey has filled vacancies created by the retirement of their predecessors.
Conducting the official commissioning and seating of the two judges on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the Temple of Justice, Chief Justice Yuoh said it is the expectation of the High Court that the judges will uphold and support the Constitution and laws of the land.
“Therefore, by the authority vested in me as Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia, I passed both of you these gavels of authority and officially declare you seated as Judges of the 8th Judicial Circuit Court, Nimba County with all the rights, and responsibilities appertaining thereto,” the Chief Justice remarked.

The ascendency of women to high offices in Liberia is a leap forward for the equal rights of women to participate in politics and to hold public office.
Noting that women constitute approximately 49.7 % of the country’s total population, it is crucial that women participate and be represented in all spheres of the public and private sectors in Liberia, to ensure adequate protection of the rights of women.
Pursuant to the above-mentioned, the President of the Republic of Liberia, through a communication, designated the Chief Justice of Liberia Her Honor Sie-A-Nyene G. Yuoh to perform the commissioning ceremony of the appointed female judges along with a male Judge.

On behalf of my Colleagues of the Supreme Court Bench and the entire Judiciary, I welcome you to this ceremony marking the opening of the October A.D. 2021 Term of this Court. We are exceedingly grateful to God Almighty for His protection amid the Covid -19 global pandemic; we humbly pray for His continued guidance and gift of wisdom and fortitude as we commence this Term.

We are gathered here this morning in fulfillment of the Judiciary law, which sets the second Mondays in October and March of each year as the days the Supreme Court shall open for the conduct of business. I welcome Your Excellency, President George Manneh Weah and other distinguished guests, on behalf of my Colleagues of the Supreme Court Bench and the entire Judiciary, to the opening of the October 2020 Term of this Court.
